Introducing eDelivery with DocuSign® for Indexed Universal Life Policies Effective 03/27/21

Effective March 27, 2021, North American is excited to announce that the eDelivery with DocuSign process introduced in 2020 is now available for Indexed Universal Life (IUL) insurance products when an illustration is not outstanding at time of issue.

Availability
The eDelivery with DocuSign process is available in all states.

Eligibility criteria
The following criteria must be met for a case to be eligible for the eDelivery with DocuSign process:

  • New Business cases where the insured, owner, and payor are the same person
  • Available on all products, but only available on IUL when an illustration is not outstanding at issue
  • Email address is on file for the client and soliciting agent

How it works

  • To request eDelivery on an eApp, simply answer the electronic delivery question ‘yes’ within ExactApp.
  • To request eDelivery on a paper application, submit the eConsent form number O-2000 with the application.

Eligible cases will automatically go through the eDelivery with DocuSign process when eDelivery is requested. Cases that request eDelivery that are not eligible for the eDelivery with DocuSign process will continue to go through the PDF Delivery process, outlined on the COVID-19 resource page.

You will be able to tell if a case was issued through the eDelivery with DocuSign process as the following requirement will be added at issue: ‘eSignature Requested with eDelivery’. This requirement will also be a link to view the status of the eDelivery process.

Note the following details for cases issued through the eDelivery with DocuSign process.

  1. An email will be sent to you and then your client with a link to access the policy packet and delivery documents via DocuSign. We will send the policy packet to you via the email address stored within our agency system. Please contact Agency Services if you would like to update your email address.
  2. There will be a login process for you and your client to ensure your client’s information remains confidential and is kept secure.
  3. Once in DocuSign, you and your client will be able to review the policy, complete and sign the delivery documents, and download and/or print the policy packet. Please note: cases issued through the eDelivery with DocuSign process will not have a paper policy packet mailed to you or your client. If you or your client would like a copy of the policy, you may download and/or print it within DocuSign.
  4. When both you and your client have completed the signature process within DocuSign, the signed and completed delivery requirements will automatically be sent to New Business.

The following forms will be available to be completed and signed through the eDelivery with DocuSign process:

  • The Electronic Funds Transfer Form (EFT)
  • Statement of Health
  • Amendment
  • Policy Delivery Receipt
  • Surrender Comparison Index Disclosure (for PA only)

If any other form is required on a case, they will need to be signed and submitted outside of the eDelivery with DocuSign process.

Existing pending business
If you have existing eligible applications that have already been submitted but not yet issued, contact New Business to take advantage of the eDelivery with DocuSign process. For paper applications, eConsent form number O-2000 will be required to take advantage of the eDelivery with DocuSign process.

Additional details

  • The link to view the policy packet and sign the delivery requirements will be available until the close out date of the case has been reached.
  • If you access the policy packet via the link provided in the email and then navigate out of it, you can re-access the policy packet by clicking on the link provided in the email again.
  • Within the policy packet, there will be an option for you or your client to decline signing the delivery requirements. When this option is selected, a reason must be provided. If your client declines to sign the delivery requirements this will be reflected in the status and you will be notified by New Business with the details.
  • For the best experience, complete the eSignature process on a desktop or laptop device using the Chrome, Edge, or Safari web browsers.

Saving the policy packet:

  • It is recommended that you save the original eDelivery email as after signatures are obtained, the signed documents can be accessed through the link in the original email. The policy packet, including the signed delivery requirements, will be available through the link in the initial email for 120 days.

Reissued policies:

  • When a policy is reissued while still in New Business, provided it still meets the eligibility requirements for eDelivery with DocuSign, a new email will be sent for the updated policy packet. In this scenario, the link in the prior email will become inactive.
  • Reissues that require only partial pages versus a full policy will be mailed via paper copy and emailed securely to you and your client.
