New Regulatory Changes for California Business Effective 03/27/21

We’re making several product, material and forms updates for business written in California due to recent regulatory changes. Please read each section carefully as important application deadlines may be included for some of these updates. 

All updated materials, including the Certificates of Disclosure (CODs) listed below, will be available on Athene Connect beginning March 27, 2021. Be sure to use up-to-date materials when offering Athene annuities. You may experience slight processing delays on any print orders in the days before or after the effective date.

Deadlines for CA applications requesting the Minimum Interest Credit

In order to receive the Minimum Interest Credit for the CA products listed above…

  • The application must be signed on or before March 26, 2021 and received at Athene* by market close (3 p.m. CT) on April 9, 2021. For electronic applications submitted on AnnuityNet or Affirm (where no sign date was provided), the application signed date is the date the electronic order is submitted to your back office for final review.
  • The contract must be in good order, suitability review complete (if applicable) and all funds received at Athene* by market close (3 p.m. CT) on May 11, 2021.

* If you submit applications through your firm’s back office, please allow for additional processing time in order to meet the deadlines listed above. 

Certificates of Disclosure (CODs)

To comply with the regulatory changes, we’ve updated the CODs for the CA product(s) listed below. The updated CODs (Ver. 03/21) will be available on Athene Connect beginning March 27, 2021 and should be used immediately.

Applications with outdated or missing CODs received after market close (3 p.m. CT) on April 9, 2021 will be considered “not in good order.”
