Many state insurance departments regulate the use of professional designations. State regulators are concerned some consumer designations indicate or imply an insurance producer has special certification or training in advising or servicing seniors or other special segments of society (veterans, Medicare recipients, special needs individuals, etc.) in connection with the solicitation, sale or purchase of a life insurance or annuity product.
Many designations are legitimate and do confer such special or expert knowledge upon the holder. States have laid out the steps organizations must meet in order for a certification to be allowed for use by an insurance producer.
We have a list of designations we have reviewed under the various state requirements. While inclusion on this list is not an endorsement of any designation by a regulatory authority or by the company, we do believe such designations meet the regulatory requirements for proper use by a producer.
Please review our Approved Professional Designations form (#4056) available under the Compliance tab on our agent website. Also, make sure to review our Advertising Guidelines (form 4055) for further instruction on use of Professional Designations.
