How do we define depression and anxiety? 

Depression is a common mental condition that includes persistent low mood, loss of interest in activities and difficulty with daily life. Anxiety is an emotion characterized by a state of apprehension, uneasiness and fear. Nearly 1/3 of Americans report symptoms of anxiety or depression.

There are many risk factors that increase risk, including: 

  • Genetics
  • Biochemical changes
  • Substance abuse
  • Environmental and trauma
  • Comorbid medical conditions

  • Frequency and impact of symptoms?
