MassMutual DI Underwriting Makes it Easier to do Business in Jurisdictions with ‘State Cash Sickness Benefits’

Competitive changes effective immediately

MassMutual DI underwriting heard your feedback and has made it easier to do business by eliminating the need to offset for state cash sickness benefits. This applies to new and pending business where there is no underlying group long-term disability insurance. Please note, occupation classes A/2A will continue to require the Social Insurance Rider.

California, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, and Rhode Island residents have state cash sickness benefit programs (referred to as SDI in California) that previously required us to reduce the issue amount for disability income insurance to avoid over-insurance.

For California, a work-around will be required when running a DI sales illustration. On the Plan Information screen, check the box to remove the State Cash Sickness offset.

For more information, refer to the State Cash Sickness Benefits Underwriting flyer (DI2225).
