Joel Liu Named MMSD’s Head of Advanced Sales

We are excited to announce that Joel S. Liu, J.D., has joined MassMutual as MMSD’s Head of Advanced Sales, effective Dec. 18. Joel’s most recent role was Corporate Vice President and Advanced Planning Consultant for New York Life Insurance Company in their Advanced Planning Group. There, he served agents working in the Pacific Zone and the Chinese cultural market by helping identify and develop large life insurance sales opportunities among their high net worth prospects. 

Previous to New York Life, Joel spent several years in private practice with an emphasis on business planning and had worked as an agent and registered representative in the financial services industry. Experienced as both a business professional and practicing attorney, Joel has expertise in corporate development, planning, and the legal issues pertaining to businesses. 

Joel’s collaborative and practical style of counseling affluent individuals and business owners has positioned him as a valued resource for producers focused on estate and business planning markets. He brings creative and thoughtful insight for sophisticated insurance-based solutions, as well as invaluable technical expertise in estate and business planning concepts. 

Joel earned his his B.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Nebraska and his J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, NE. He is admitted to the State Bar of Nebraska and is pursuing a LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law. 

Joel has professional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and is an experienced public presenter. He and his family live in Orange County, CA.
