Clarification on Nevada and Illinois Open Enrollment Periods

Nevada
The State of Nevada has provided us with additional clarification on this new enrollment period. This open enrollment period for Nevada will still be effective January 1, 2022.  See below for details:

  • Annual Open Enrollment lasting 60 days, beginning 1st day of an individual’s birthday month ending 60 days from that date, during which time an individual may replace any Medicare supplement policy with a policy of equal or lesser benefits.
  • Coverage will not be made effective prior to the individual’s birthday or beyond 60 days from the application date.
  • Documentation should be included verifying plan information when submitting applications.
  • Applications can be taken 1/1/2022.

The Nevada notices for this enrollment period are in the process of being finalized and will begin mailing on 12/20/2021. Corrective mailings will occur to let eligible policyholders know about this open enrollment period who may have been missed or received incorrect information.

Illinois
We have also updated our information for the Illinois Open Enrollment period. The effective date of this enrollment period is still January 1, 2022. Details are included below to provide clarification:

  • Annual Open Enrollment lasting 45 days, beginning on an individual’s birthday, during which time a person may replace an Omaha Insurance Company Medicare supplement policy with an Omaha Insurance Company policy equal to or lesser benefits.
  • An individual must be between the ages of 65 through 75 to be eligible.
  • Coverage will not be made effective prior to the individual’s birthday or beyond 60 days from the application date.
  • This is not an option for closed blocks.
  • Applications can be taken 1/1/2022.

The Underwriting Guidelines have been updated with this new information for both states.
