New and improved product applications coming soon

Effective June 14, 2021

We’re rolling out new and improved applications for all Athene deferred annuity products. These new applications are designed to:

  • Improve customer experience
  • Better support owner-driven products
  • Coordinate with our e-delivery enrollment process
  • Enhance our suitability review for Firelight Users (see below for details)

While most applications will keep their current form number, the following applications will receive a new one:

Important dates to remember

The new applications (Ver. 07/20) will be available on Athene Connect after 4 p.m. CT on June 11, 2021, and should be used immediately. Older applications with outdated or missing forms received after market close (3 p.m. CT) on July 2, 2021 will be considered “not in good order.” Be sure to use up-to-date materials when offering Athene annuities.

Please note: Electronic applications initiated prior to, but not yet e-signed by market close (3 p.m. CT) on July 2, 2021 will require the new applications.

Enhanced Firelight capabilities

At the same time, while our suitability process and forms are not changing (click here to see our Suitability Guidelines for Producers), we’re enhancing the suitability section in Firelight.* This enhancement will require you to run a validation (located at the bottom of page 3) that will alert you, in real time, when additional suitability review may be required.

To run the validation, be sure to select the “1st check” box prior to submitting the application. After running the validation(s), one of two responses will appear in the lower right-hand corner:

  • “Subject to full suitability review once transmitted to Athene”, or
  • “Additional suitability review may be required — expect a response from our suitability team in 1-3 business days, after the review of the contract has been completed”

The validation process can be run a second time if needed. After the second validation, you can still submit the application and/or make changes to the application, but a third validation will not be possible. Once the application has been submitted, our Suitability Review Team will review the documents and email you and/or your back office if we have questions or if any additional requirements are needed.

Even though our process is not changing, this enhancement will keep you better informed by alerting you if further action may be needed.
