Electronic Health Records (EHRs) Automatic Ordering Integrated into Our Digital Platform

Legal & General America is introducing automatic EHR ordering into our digital platform to not only give clients a simpler, more convenient process but also much faster exam-free approvals for eligible applicants. This means digital applications requiring an Attending Physician Statement (APS) will move more quickly since EHR results can come back in just a few days rather than weeks.

Our easy digital application journey comes with built-in accelerated underwriting and exam-free opportunities. As clients complete the secure online application, automated underwriting rules run simultaneously to determine next steps, quickly obtain requirements and allow eligible cases to be approved exam-free.

With the launch of digital Lab Lift earlier this year, even applicants not initially approved exam-free have the opportunity to substitute recent blood work for a paramed exam. EHRs will now be ordered along with APSs for Lab Lift cases.

What is changing?

Whenever underwriting rules — including those for Lab Lift — determine an APS is needed, an EHR will also automatically be ordered. When an EHR is available and our underwriters determine the information is sufficient to proceed, we’ll cancel the APS order. If an EHR is not available, the APS will be used.

What do you need to do?
Nothing! This enhancement has been integrated into our platform, meaning EHR ordering is automatic. If you already have an APS or EHR for your client, you can send it to OnlineApp@lgamerica.com for review, however, we cannot guarantee we will be able to accept them for substitution of an exam or additional EHR/APS.

Where can you see EHR orders?

EHR details will be displayed in the Requirements tab within Application Manager on our Partner Dashboard.

  • A substitution ⇆ symbol will be displayed only if an EHR is substituted for labs
  • When the EHR is available, the Received column will be updated with the date the EHR was received
  • Once an EHR is reviewed and completed, those dates will appear on the Reviewed and Status columns
